Message from the Chief Executive Officer
YWCA San Gabriel Valley Remains open to Provide Essential Services during Coronavirus Outbreak– San Gabriel Valley, Los Angeles County
As of March 18th, 2020, the YWCA San Gabriel Valley will remain in operation in order to provide modified programming in three essential areas: domestic violence, senior services, and case management.
The YWCA SGV will continue to provide residential domestic violence shelter services and will take all precautions to minimize client and staff risk of infection. Non-residential domestic violence services have shifted to virtual and telework means. For Domestic Violence services, please call the YWCA-SGV WINGS 24-hour help line at (626) 967-0658.
All YWCA SGV congregate meal sites are transitioning to distribute packaged/frozen meals, and the YWCA SGV will continue providing home-delivered meals. Precautions will be taken to reduce exposure, person-to-person contact, and risk of infection to senior adults. For Senior Services, please call the 24-hour message line at (626) 214-9467.
Case Management & Supportive Services
We have modified all face-to-face services such as all case management, homeless assistance, home visits, supportive services, and non-residential services, to telework and virtual means through the use of Zoom, tele-health and phone calls.
In adherence to CDC recommendations, the YWCA SGV has put in place a temporary emergency contingency plan during this unfolding situation. The contingency plan will be continually updated as needed in light of new developments and county, state, and federal recommendations. The YWCA SGV recognizes this is a very fluid situation, and will be ready to shift and adjust as new information comes forth.
We are taking the health and well-being of our program participants and staff very seriously, as well as the health of the communities we serve. The YWCA SGV will continue to consult with experts and partners to determine best practices and/or contingency plans in conducting our direct and essential services.
Non-essential client direct services and all scheduled fundraising events will be suspended for the current time. Please visit ywcasgv.org for more information or to donate during this critical time. For information or press inquiries, please contact Stella Zarate, at (626)214-9471.
